Teresa Brophy has been teaching early childhood education, including kindergarten, for over 25 years in both private and public schools. She has taught at Christ United Methodist Preschool for 15 years and serves as Director we well as the teacher of our 3’s and 4’s classes. She is a graduate of Portland State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She is married with two grown children and loves music and writing. She has traveled to Ukraine, Thailand, Mexico and Cambodia for Christian Ministry.
Diana Purser started teaching at Christ United Methodist Preschool two years ago in the Pre-K class, and has been working with preschoolers from ages 2 to 5 since 2008. Before joining CUMP, she served on the board of Mustard Seed Christian Preschool and as an assistant in the 3’s class. Diana also taught part-time at Tulip Tree, a Reggio-based preschool. In 2008, before returning to college for her Early Childhood Certificate, Diana was the lead Pre-K teacher at Mustard Seed. She has worked with young children in a wide variety of settings, including Volunteers of America drop-in facilities, Family Relief Nursery, and the VOA Domestic Violence Resource Center. Her teaching philosophy is grounded in Christianity and Constructivism, the theory that children can construct their own knowledge based on their ideas and experiences. Diana holds a BA in English and Communications and a Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Family Studies. In her spare time, she enjoys sewing, knitting, writing, and interior design.
Stephanie Modica is in her third year with Christ United Methodist Preschool. She is a graduate of Portland State University with a degree in Administration of Justice. She has worked with young children at the church and in public schools for many years and was a substitute aide with the Beaverton School district before joining CUMP. She is married with 6 daughters.
